Clowning around
Jackie Price was baseball's one-man circus
Have you heard the one about…
…baseball’s ultimate trick shot artist?
Baseball doesn’t make ‘em like Jackie Price anymore.
For one strange and glorious stretch of the 1940s and 1950s, though, there he was--chasing down fly balls while driving a Jeep across the outfield, taking batting practice while standing on his head, accurately throwing 3 baseballs at a time to 3 different catchers and turning pre-game warmups into something more like a circus act.
Jackie Price wasn’t just a baseball player.
He was baseball vaudeville—part infielder…part stuntman…part acrobat…part traveling carnival…part showman….and part chaos for good measure.
But for those who saw him, he was ALL unforgettable.
